Free Photo Material

We offer over 8,000 photos, mainly focusing on landscapes of Tokyo, Hokkaido, and Okinawa, as free materials.

This site is a free photo material site where I, the site administrator, share photos that I have personally taken.
The photos provided mainly come from the areas I lived in or places I visited.
Although the number of photos isn’t large, I continue to run this site with the desire to contribute as much as possible to creative work.

It has been 14 years since I started running the site, and many creators, companies, and media outlets like TV stations have used the materials. Recently, we have also seen an increase in traffic from overseas, and I’ve seen articles introducing our site on foreign websites.
Although there are many free photo material sites, I always strive to provide unique photos that can only be found on Photock, and I continue to take photos and run the site every day.

Minimizing Complicated Usage Restrictions

I know from personal experience that it can be annoying to deal with membership registration, mandatory links, or overly complicated terms of use when searching for photos on other free material sites.
On this site, we try to eliminate unnecessary restrictions so that anyone can use the materials freely.

No membership registration is required, and you can download any size of image with just one click.
No reporting is necessary after use, and credit attribution is not required (though it’s optional if you’d like to include it).
Commercial use is allowed, and you can trace or edit the photos freely, including cropping and modifying them.

However, we do have some basic rules in place, so please make sure to read our Terms of Use.

We Offer Four Photo Sizes

We offer four sizes of photos to suit different needs:

• Small Size [300px × 199px]
• Medium Size [728px × 484px]
• Large Size [2000px × 1329px]
• Extra Large Size [4672px × 3104px] to [8688px × 5792px]

The extra-large size varies depending on the camera used at the time of shooting.
Of course, there are no restrictions based on the photo size.

Additionally, we provide photos in the webp format, which is uncommon on other free photo material sites.

This site was launched in April 2010.

The name “Photock” is a combination of “photo” and “stock.”

I’ve been passionate about photography for a long time, and my collection of photos grew quite large. I didn’t want to let these photos sit idle on my hard drive, so I decided to share them with as many people as possible by creating this site.

I am from Hokkaido and currently run a web development business in Tokyo. I am 40 years old.
I use the Canon 5DSR camera.
I am not a professional photographer, but my dream is to travel around Japan with a camera one day.

About Photos

Some photos containing people or license plates may have blur effects applied.
Also, for certain subjects (such as buildings and animals), we have not obtained permission from the owners.
